Brian Goodman

Brian joined Flagship Ventures in 2013 as an Associate within Flagship VentureLabsTM after completing the Flagship VentureLabs Entrepreneurial Fellows program. At Flagship, Brian works with VentureLabs partners as part of a venture creation team, exploring innovative ideas and opportunities, and developing critical scientific and business components that will lead to the firm’s next breakthrough startups.  Before starting at Flagship, he completed his doctorate in biological chemistry and molecular pharmacology at Harvard in the lab of Dr. Samara Reck-Peterson. There, Brian investigated mechanisms of how cytoskeletal motor proteins move cargo using biophysical techniques combined with DNA nanotechnology. He has published several papers in top journals including Science and Nature Structural and Molecular Biology and presented his work at the American Society for Cell Biology’s annual meeting.

Brian has broad experience through academic and industrial internships including biophysics research tuning the specificity of antibody binding at the National Cancer Institute and exposure to the regulatory environment of molecular diagnostics at Roche. He holds a B.S. in Biochemistry with honors and a B.A. in economics from Brandeis University, is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honors society, and received the William P. Jencks Award in biochemistry.
