Currently the CEO of Helicos BioSciences which he helped cofound in 2003, Stan is a renowned entrepreneur, engineer and inventor with 29 issued patents. Prior to joining Flagship Ventures in 2002, Stan founded EXACT Sciences (Nasdaq: EXAS) in 1995, served as the CEO through 2000 and is now Chairman of the Board. Prior to starting EXACT Sciences, he successfully founded Itran Corporation and Cytyc Corporation (Nasdaq: CYTC). Stan is an Assistant Research Professor in the pathology department of Tufts University Medical School, a Senior Lecturer at MIT's Sloan School of Management and a Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. He is also an advisor to the Harvard School of Public Health's Center for Cancer Prevention. He holds a BS degree in electrical engineering from Cooper Union and was recently elected a trustee of that school.

Stan also serves as Director of EXACT Sciences and Flagship portfolio company TransMedics.
