Chantry Networks wins Educause 2003 show-stopper award
Awards highlighted in University Business Magazine

WALTHAM, MA - December 17, 2003 - Chantry Networks, the leading provider of innovative wireless networking technology, has received the EDUCAUSE 2003 Show-Stopper Award. The award winners are featured in this month's issue of University Business magazine.

"Our wireless technology is a proven solution for the higher education market," said Peter N. Vicars, president and CEO, Chantry Networks. "This award is further validation that leading educational institutions are implementing sophisticated, large-scale wireless networks for greater services and competitive advantage. We are extremely honored to receive the EDUCAUSE Show-Stopper Award."

University Business recruited an undercover panel of judges to walk the exhibit floor to visit and evaluate the vendors at this year's show. The conference show featured 194 exhibitor booths, ranging from established vendors to start-ups. The judges for the show were all higher education technology administrators who are key technology decision-makers.

Chantry Networks, whose BeaconWorks' wireless LAN infrastructure has been widely praised in the industry, demonstrated its VNSWorks technology at the EDUCAUSE show.

Chantry's VNSWorks technology, which is embedded in BeaconWorks, addresses key requirements for wireless in education by enabling separate virtual networks for students, faculty, staff and visitors over one single physical network - providing enhanced wireless service at a lower cost.

According to one of the judges, "This is a highly scalable solution that should make it easy for lots of schools to join the wireless revolution."* Chantry was the only wireless vendor selected for this award.

In addition to VNSWorks, Chantry has other features that are suited to university environments. For example, Chantry's Captive Portal allows end-users (students, faculty and administrative staff) to launch their Web browsers and sign on to the university WLAN network. Chantry's Captive Portal intercepts the URL request and returns a customizable "splash page" allowing the users to authenticate on the network based on defined policies for that end user. These policies can be determined by the IT administrators and or the university departments. Captive Portal provides the IT organization a way to easily manage access, security and user profiles upon initial authentication to the WLAN network which persists throughout the users' session.

Since the spring 2003 launch of BeaconWorks, Chantry's wireless solution has been adopted by a number of leading higher education institutions. Additionally, there has been a significant number of hospitality businesses turning to Chantry for its wireless needs.

In the last few months, Chantry has been named both winner and finalists for a number of industry awards, including "Best of Show" at Networld+Interop 2003, the Investor's Choice "Best Follow-On Investment Opportunity" from VentureFair, and the "Forum Favourite" award from the Canadian IT Financing Forum.
