Chantry Networks forms technical advisory board to guide company in WLAN market

BOSTON - July 14, 2003 - Chantry Networks, the provider of the world's first large-scale routed wireless LAN (WLAN) solution, the BeaconWorks™ family of products, today announced the formation of the Chantry Networks Technical Advisory Board. The Board is initially comprised of Brian O'Higgins, vice president, CTO and founder of Entrust Technologies, Manickam Sridhar, CTO and vice president, development at Sitara Networks and Mehmet Unsoy, former chief architect, mmO2. These networking industry experts have a combined total of more than 100 years of product and technology expertise, and will provide Chantry with additional market and technical knowledge as the company develops solutions for the wireless marketplace.

"Our advisory board is intended to help shape the future of Chantry's technology as well as assist us as we address even more sophisticated customer requirements and the changing role of wireless," said Peter Vicars, president and CEO of Chantry Networks. "With the guidance offered by our technical advisory board, we are focusing on the advantages offered by a routed IP architecture, setting the stage for widespread adoption of WLAN technology."

A routed IP architectureÑthe same architecture that serves as the foundation for the InternetÑcombined with WLAN virtualization, delivers unprecedented levels of scalability and availability, far in excess of any other WLAN solutions - making the adoption of wireless networking faster, easier, and more cost-effective than ever before.

Chantry's BeaconWorks family of products consists of the BeaconMaster™ centralized controller and BeaconPoint' 802.11a/b/g access points. BeaconMaster controllers aggregate all access points - BeaconPoints as well as third-party access points - into what appears as individual, centrally managed IP subnets to the rest of the network. This, coupled with the controller's full routing capabilities, allows Chantry's BeaconWorks to address the main obstacles to widespread deployment of WLAN technologies.
