Massachusetts Interactive Media Council presents Sixth Annual Leadership Awards
Bob Metcalfe receives Lifetime Achievement Award Adrian Slywotzky delivers keynote address

June 19, 2003 - BOSTON - The Massachusetts Interactive Media Council, (MIMC), New England's premier association for businesses leveraging the Internet and related technologies, announced the winners of its Sixth Annual Leadership Awards at a ceremony tonight at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge. Six awards were presented, including a Lifetime Achievement award to Bob Metcalfe, partner, Polaris Venture Partners and Inventor of the Ethernet.

Adrian Slywotzky, co-author of the book "How to Grow When Markets Don't" and a senior partner at Mercer Management Consulting, delivered the award ceremony's keynote address on "Mastering the New Art of Demand Innovation." In his presentation, Dr. Slywotzky discussed why traditional growth tactics don't work the way they used to and how demand innovation can help to jump-start new growth--even in mature industries. He also showed how a handful of successful companies have found a way to uncover and serve new customer needs.

"The Annual Leadership Awards honor individuals and companies that have played a significant role in the development and advancement of technology," said Leslie Cushing, executive director of MIMC. "Our panel of judges reviewed many nominations to select this year's Award winners - all leaders who continue to provide the industry with leadership, innovation and cutting edge technology."
