Quanterix

For several decades, researchers have sought to develop Single Molecule Detection (SMD) techniques in order to maximize sensitivity, quantitation, and understanding of variation within biological systems. To date, however, proposed approaches have been cumbersome and limited in scope. Quanterix was co-founded by Professor David Walt of Tufts University to commercialize his simple, proprietary fiberoptic array sensing technology. The system comprises an array of many thousands of tiny wells, each of which can hold a single molecule or cell. The company intends to develop commercial products based on this technology that will set a new standard of sensitivity, precision, and robustness in life science research, drug discovery, and diagnostics. Flagship was a co-founder of Quanterix, and co-led the Series A financing. General Partner Doug Cole is on the Board.
